Selection Process

Our Hiring Process

Jones Ranch Coffee Company uses a structured, multi-stage selection process. Every step exists for a reason. Understanding what to expect will help you prepare and put your best work forward.

01

Application Submission

Ongoing rolling basis

Candidates submit their application through the RanchTalent portal. The application captures personal information, professional background, industry experience, tool proficiency, and short-answer responses. All fields are reviewed. Incomplete or low-effort submissions are not advanced.

Complete all required fields accurately
Provide specific, substantive answers — not generic responses
Upload a current resume or LinkedIn profile
Disclose your availability, compensation expectations, and earliest start date
02

Application Review

2–5 business days

Every application is reviewed by our team. We evaluate qualifications, communication quality, experience relevance, and fit against our standards. Candidates who do not meet the minimum bar are respectfully declined. Qualified candidates are moved to the assessment stage.

Written responses are reviewed for clarity, professionalism, and depth
Experience is evaluated against the specific role requirements
Communication style and attention to detail are assessed
You will receive a status update either way
03

Skills Assessment

60–90 minutes (self-paced)

Selected candidates receive a private assessment link via email. The assessment evaluates writing, judgment, market research, and technology readiness. It is not a test you can pass by guessing — it requires genuine skill and effort. Candidates have a defined window to complete it.

Writing samples demonstrating professional communication
Scenario-based judgment questions
Lead research exercise using real targets
Technology and remote-work readiness questionnaire
Optional: short video introduction
04

Assessment Review

3–7 business days

Assessment submissions are reviewed and scored by our team across multiple dimensions. Candidates are evaluated on writing quality, research depth, judgment, professionalism, and technology comfort. Scores inform who moves to the interview stage.

Scoring is confidential — candidates do not receive scores directly
Top performers are advanced to the interview stage
All candidates are notified of their status
05

Interview

30–45 minutes

Finalists are invited to a structured interview with the Jones Ranch Coffee Company team. Interviews are conducted via video call and follow a consistent format. We evaluate communication, professionalism, depth of experience, and cultural alignment.

Prepare to discuss your application responses in depth
Be ready to speak to specific examples from your experience
Have a quiet, professional environment with reliable internet
Know the company, the role, and why you applied
06

Identity Verification

As required

For candidates advancing to the paid trial stage, identity verification may be required depending on the role and engagement type. This is a standard professional step and is handled with discretion.

Identity verification is required for all paid trial candidates
The process is straightforward and handled securely
Failure to complete verification disqualifies the candidate
07

Paid Trial Engagement

Defined scope, typically 2–4 weeks

Top candidates are offered a structured paid trial engagement. This is a real work engagement — not an unpaid audition. Performance during the trial informs the decision to offer a long-term engagement.

Trial scope, deliverables, and compensation are agreed in advance
Performance is evaluated against clear criteria
Successful trials typically convert to long-term engagements
Jones Ranch Coffee Company reserves the right to conclude a trial at any time
08

Long-Term Engagement

Ongoing

Candidates who complete a successful trial are offered a long-term contractor engagement. Compensation, scope, and terms are formalized at this stage. Jones Ranch Coffee Company builds long-term partnerships with high-performing contributors.

Engagement terms are documented and agreed in writing
Performance reviews are conducted regularly
Opportunities to expand scope grow with tenure and performance

Evaluation Criteria

What We Look For

Professional English Proficiency

All written and verbal communication must be at a professional level. This is non-negotiable for client-facing or content-producing roles.

Demonstrated Competence

We look for verifiable experience, not credentials. Show us what you have done, not just where you have worked.

Technology Fluency

Comfort with AI tools, CRM platforms, Google Workspace, and async communication tools is expected across all roles.

Remote Work Readiness

A stable workspace, reliable internet, and the discipline to execute without daily supervision are baseline requirements.

Attention to Detail

Errors in application materials signal how you will perform on the job. We notice.

Long-Term Orientation

We are not looking for freelancers who rotate between clients. We are building long-term working relationships.

A Note on Our Process

Submitting an application is not a guarantee of an interview or offer. Our selection process is competitive and based entirely on merit. We do not make exceptions to our standards based on urgency, enthusiasm, or follow-up frequency. The best thing you can do is submit a complete, accurate, and professionally written application.
